“life itself is a quotation.” –jorge luis borges

merry christmas!
today was such a good day!
it was one of the busier christmases, but so much fun.
we visited 7 households—thelissa, bret, brad, charisse, stephanie, grandma pearl, and grandma bonnie.
today was the day of quotes.
i got some pretty good ones.
so i decided to share :)

because today was such a busy day that needed to start so early, i set my alarm for the nasty hour of 6:20.
{side note: my first alarm is the song “baby” by justin bieber.}
when it went off, i grudgingly got up and to turn it off.
i had just turned it off when emily, who had been awake for literally 5 seconds, asked me this important question (as you read it, please remember that she had just awakened, so i barely understood what she said):
“why do i not have that ringtone?”

while driving in the car, we started discussing the rocky movies.
i was trying to talk about one of the problems i have with those movies.
but sometimes i mix up my words.
“i have a buff with the rocky movies. … i mean beef.”

also while driving in the car, emily was making sure dad knew that just because he was leaving the country did not mean that he wouldn’t be free of the “financial burden” that she is.
he tried to teach her the word “independent.”
she refused to be taught.
“i’m not independent until i’m married!”
{but not because she didn’t need to be…}

because dad went to africa a couple weeks ago,
he brought back wooden animal figurines and a wooden nativity set for the grandchildren and children.
(animals for the grandkids and nativities for the children)
we were at thelissa’s, and mom was trying to take a picture of lucy with her elephant that she got.
she had other plans…
“you can take a picture of me and my pickle jar.”

when we got to brad’s, koen was across the street playing with a friend.
brigett went and got him, and upon her return, she informed us that koen had been a bit confused as to why gma and gpa were there.
“are they back from africa already?”

we had plans to go see tangled after visiting stephanie.
{side note: tangled is an amazing movie. amazing.}
because we all like to talk, we didn’t end up leaving stephanie’s house until the movie was scheduled to start.
mom was pretty happy about that.
“oh good. we can miss all that slut in the beginning.”
{guess i know where i get my word-mixing-uppage from}

after tangled, we went to go see grandma peterson.
while we were there, dad was complaining to grandma about the soreness he felt from his horse riding escapades the day before with scott.
she wasn’t in an excuse-accepting mood.
“so i went horseback riding yesterday…”
”oh. foolish, foolish, foolish.”

also while visiting grandma peterson, she mentioned that she wasn’t sure if she would be able to make it to my parents’ setting apart because she needed a ride.
dad decided to throw in a little pearl of wisdom…
“well grandma, we’d love to have you there, but it’s like a wedding…it’ll go on without you.”
{don’t worry—emily and i didn’t really get it either…}

today was a great reminder of just how much i love my family.
they truly are a huge part of my life.
i have no idea where i would be without them.
but now it’s time to sleep.
so merry christmas to all, and to all a good night!! :)
