“we swim because we are too sexy for a sport that requires clothes.”–author unknown

ok i know i’m horrible at this.
i’ll skip over the lame excuses and just make up for yesterday:

today (yesterday) i am grateful for…

1. my great in-laws {they always let us stay here and do our laundry and drink their chocolate milk. also they give us all sorts of medicine when we’re sick.}

2. tayte {for being a swimmer in high school—i’ll elaborate more later}

3. my great campbell family {for also being swimmers and for being awesome and for having crazy children}

4. layton alumni swim meets {buckle up}
so tayte swam in high school, as did his 2 brothers, chett and jaren, and jaren’s wife, lindsey.
someone decided that they should have a layton alumni swim meet as a fundraiser.
i don’t know why they didn’t think of that sooner.
basically, all the alumni tried to fit into their jammers and had to swim against the current layton high swim team.
the alumni swimmers had no rules they had to follow, but the swim team had to follow all the normal rules.
it. was. awesome.
tayte swam in a few relays with his brothers as well as a couple individual events.
one of my favorite relays that he did was the 250 free, which went something like this:
chett swam half a lap then turned around and went back.
the next two kids did the same.
the next kid did two laps.
then jaren swam a whole lap.
then tayte finished it off with the last lap.
needless to say, they won.
there were some alumni teams that would just have their contestants just jump in and touch the wall.
in another relay, one person would swim a whole lap and the second person would jump in when they were halfway through their second lap.
in both of his individual events, tayte swam against either one or both of his brothers.
in high school, jaren and tayte were sprinters and chett was more of a long-distance swimmer.
tayte beat both his brothers in both events. {he didn’t get first, but he at least beat them both}
one of the events was jaren’s best event, and he was trash talking it up.
i told tayte to make me proud, and jaren scoffed at that.
tayte won.
nbd.
i thoroughly enjoyed this alumni swim meet :)

in one of the events, tayte on the right, jaren on the left. tayte’s winning, obvi.

here they are again, with lindsey.
they’re all exhausted.

the kids got a hold of chett’s goggles and tried them on for size.

hayden had some trouble keeping his eyes open…

IMG_2224
so did flint apparently.
please note his completely full cheeks.
he has 5 gummy pumpkins in his mouth.
they stayed there for at least 30-45 minutes.
how do i know there were 5?
he went swimming afterwards, and they all fell out.

5. nature…and buffalo. and antelope island.
tayte and i went to antelope island with his mom after the swim meet.
we almost died when a buffalo (the first one i’d ever seen) tried to kick our car.

they were rounding up the buffalo to give them shots and count them and separate the ones that would be sold in an auction and stuff…

we went on a mini hike up to buffalo point.
it was really pretty up there.

i’m grateful for today (yesterday).
i have a wonderful life :)
