“sports serve society by providing vivid examples of excellence.” – george f. will

so here’s the thing.
this post is pretty overdue…but deal with it.
so a few days ago, tayte and i were enjoying an hour of free-ish time in the terrace. (that’s in the wilk, fyi)
then these people from the universe (the school newspaper—it used to be the daily universe, and it used to be daily) came in and set up this table.
they then proceeded to announce that we all had a chance to win some front row tickets to the upcoming games (basketball and volleyball).
you just had to shoot a small ball into a small bucket.
then you’d get two free shirts and tickets.
instantly, there was a huge line.
tayte decided to join in the frenzy.
he didn’t make the first couple, but it’s ok—neither did any of the other 30 people.
he just kept getting back in line.
and then he finally made it!
it was so random and so lucky and so great!
he was pretty surprised.
so now we had tickets to the basketball game that weekend.
we were pretty excited to go.
we put on our matching shirts,

then headed out the door.
whoever was in charge of reserving these front row seats couldn’t get them all on the front row, for whatever reason, so we were technically in the second row.
but we were still in the second row.
we were next to the opposing team’s bench.
it was pretty exciting.
we sat next to a kid that looked somewhat like this guy.
url

we also sat next to that fan.
the one who has probably never played a sport in his life, but who insists on yelling ridiculous things to the opposing team.
i was getting really annoyed.
it probably made it worse that he was wearing a blue mohawk wig.
finally someone called him out on a particular ridiculous thing he was yelling.
i was so grateful.

also some guy came around and was handing out byu paraphernalia for the fans to wear.
weird.
i thought the fans supplied that themselves.
whatever.
tayte picked up a cougar blue fro wig thing.
thankfully he took it off at some point.
i couldn’t take him seriously.
also, we won the game!
it was great!

yay for husbands that can shoot baskets and who get me cool surprises!! :)
