“go confidently in the direction of your dreams. live the life you have imagined.” – henry david thoreau

last week was the craziest.
first, we finished finals.
yay!
really though.
we are so relieved to be done with that…for now.
then my parents came!
yay!
i love it when they come.
my mom helped me put together one of tayte’s graduation presents.

that’s the wall in our bedroom.
it was empty except for that lonely map of utah.
i decided we could do something that he would (hopefully) like.
so i figured out all the different places that he’s been, bought a map of the US, and printed out pictures from those places.
my mom brought some stuff from arizona, and we put it all together!
there are even little climbing hand/footholds.
i think it turned out really great, and what’s better, tayte loved it.
he couldn’t stop looking at it, and he was absolutely surprised.
it was worth lying to his face on occasion :)
they also purchased him yet another graduation present.
i wanted it to be a surprise, so we did the whole blindfold thing.

we tried to drive around randomly to throw him off course.
but he had an idea at some point.
anyway.
note to self: tayte does not like being blindfolded.
especially when i tell him that people are looking at him weird.
but we did take him to get something he really really wanted:

a new climbing rope (along with some other fun things…)
yeah he’s pretty spoiled.
and that’s fine.

so my parents came for tayte’s graduation.
i’m so proud of that boy of mine.
he’s now done with his undergrad, and he’s all ready to start his master’s.
yay.
but he graduated.
that’s kind of a big deal.
one of his brothers and his parents came down for it as well.
it was fun to have all of them down here.
evidence of that grand ole time we had:

craig came too!

so he ended up sitting just a few rows in front of us.

i had to put this one up because it looks like those pictures of President Monson from conference where he’s waving. that’s all.
note: that girl would probably not make the cover of the Ensign. ever.

he shook some hands…

and he did it!
he broke all the rules and came and sat with us when he was done.
what a rebel.
i really am so proud of him.
he worked so hard and it all paid off.
way to go tayte!

oh you thought our weekend was over?
come on son.
we had two weddings over the weekend.
the first was my dear cousin hilary, who got married in salt lake.

she was absolutely beautiful and so, so happy.
andrew is a great guy, and they’re both so lucky.
i am incredibly happy for the both of them.
they’re just the cutest couple.

love them.
the other wedding was allan escobar’s.
DSC_6720
he was in my parents’ mission,
we were in the same ward,
we pretended to be cousins,
then we pretended to be engaged,
then he almost killed me on his scooter thing.
yeah we’re pretty good friends.
he married a gorgeous girl from peru.
they are such a happy couple.
we were able to attend each of those sealings.
allan’s was in spanish, so that was super cool!
it was the first time tayte or i had ever been to a sealing (not including our own, of course). it was an awesome experience.
then we went to hilary and andrew’s dinner thing they did (instead of a reception).
it was a lot of fun.
the two of them love to laugh and have a great time, and you could totally see that in the way the dinner was set up.
there was a photo booth, tasty morsels, a dance, family, and lots and lots of delicious lemonade.
seriously though. i could have consumed the entire pitcher thing. so. good.

cousins are just the bestest.
i was so grateful i didn’t have to stand in the bouquet toss.
however, i did remind my lovely cousin, rachel, (who caught the bouquet) about how i caught the bouquet at darren's wedding, and i was the next cousin married.
good times.
then, as andrew and hilary ran out amidst all of us and our sparklers, there was a firework show that rivaled anything you’d see on fourth of july.
it was awesome, epic, and pretty illegal.
we partied hearty, then we went home and sat on the couch.
the next morning, we woke up and wrote our talk and lesson (tayte had to speak and i had to teach), then we got dressed, went to church, did our thing, and came home.
now our weekend is over.
it was a great weekend, even though we’re exhausted.

love,
the campbells :)

ps- i realized that i never put up a picture of what tayte’s parents got him for graduation.
DSC_6670
not the best picture, but that suit is amazing.
his parents got him 2 suits for graduation, and he got them fitted so they look beautiful.
i won’t talk about the hard times we had trying to pick out a stinkin tie.
but that suit is great, and i’m sure the other one will be just as phenomenal!
