Disclaimer: This post has nothing whatsoever to do with square dancing (if you are experiencing deja vu, in that you've heard this square dancing speech before, it's because you are cool and have facebook and you looked at my pictures. Deal with it). This post has nothing whatsoever to do with square dancing (if you are experiencing deja vu, in that you've heard that exact sentence before, you are going insane). I've noticed that I have a thing or plaid, collared shirts, and square dancing. I use the plaid and collared shirts when I'm shopping for clothes, and the square dancing when I'm referring to a group of things randomly thrown together that have nothing whatsoever to do with each other...or when I don't know what to say (works every time)...or just when I feel like it. I was doing a history review for extra credit (meaning the teacher was going to look at it), and one of the questions talked about the relationship between persons a and b. I most definitely talked about how they all go square dancing. and then, on a math test, (my last math test of my high school experience, I might add) I was supposed to show that these two equations were equal. Well, I was almost done, but one side had a 1/3 and I had no idea how to make the other side have 1/3 as well, so I just wrote (and I quote) (and I'm a poet and you did not know it), "somehow a 1/3 appears here [at this point, I drew an arrow to where the 1/3 was going to appear] and then we all go square dancing." Needless to say, my teacher liked that. She even drew me a little smiley face. Gotta love high school.
Ok. I heartily apologize for the lack of updates for this blog...I guess I was busy with, like, school, or something, but since that's over...here we go!! Unfortunately, I haven't written since December, so this might get a tad long...it's ok though. I'll try to, you know, keep it down.
Anyway, so what's happened? Well, I turned 18, but that was a while ago, so it's not that exciting to anyone anymore. Oh well. Anyway, oh yeah...Dizz came home!! That was fun. I had to go to school but I was gonna get out at lunch, so I could go see my dearly beloved sister. We had fun, except she was so darn tired that first day, so that was kinda lame. :) but then she stayed for many moons and we had lots of fun. Scott came in and surprised Dad for his bday (well he technically surprised Dizz too, but whatever). He had some work thing in PR, so he came and chilled with us. Anyway, it was tight. We (by we I mean the parents, the Dizz, and me) went to the islands, so we got in some quality bonding time. We went to this museum that had some freakin sweet sassy statues, and we made a tourist pile of rocks, and, last but not least, we donated to the Donkeys Help Coin Box (Thanks for your coins ! If YOU do a LITTLE ... WE can do a LOT.) ...amazing, huh? Yeah, we try.
Anyway, then Charisse and Clate brought their little brood (I feel like in the light of wanting to be politically correct, I should mention how non-"little" their brood is). The night they came in, the boys thought they were gonna die of heat. Ellie had to go to the bathroom (actually, I think there was some problem with her and her panties, so I was walking with her panties in my pocket--not crucial to the story, but just a nice tidbit), so me and Lindsay and Clatie and Tanner and Ellie (obviously) walked to Wendy's. The boys didn't have to go, so I told them to just sit at a table and wait. They really didn't have any other choice...plus it was air-conditioned. Anyway, so we go to the bathroom and there's this garbage can in front of the door. I figured they didn't want us to use it, so I started to walk away, but this worker chic was like "No, esta bien." and moved it. Wierd. Anyway, so we come out of the bathroom (confession: it did take a while because Ellie was wearing tennies, and well it's not that easy to remove all bottom layers with those honkin things on...) and the boys are sittin there, at a table, eating burgers. Apparently they got hungry.
So we get home and sit down for dinner. That was an adventure. There was a lot of laughing (I think I cried because I was in pain from the laughter overload) and putting things that weren't water in the cups of water (aka Tanner put chips in my water). It was fun. We then had a little party for Lindsay, complete with Ghiradelli's Triple Chocolate brownies with Peanut butter m&m's added in (graciously made by myself). Those things are mm mm good!! The Masks fell in love with them (especially Clate--interesting that he loved them most, and I have a picture of almost everyone but him eating them...hmm...).
The rest of their stay was filled with lots of fun stuff. Unfortunately it was transfer time, so I don't remember the stuff we did. I do remember that darn puzzle mom gave Lindsay for her bday. We did it on a sheet so we could move it, and we expected it to be this huge thing, and it was puny!! Anyway, it took us forever, because people (and by people I mean Ashley) kept bunching up the sheet, and you should be able to figure out that in doing that, she also messed up the puzzle. This would cause Clatie to get mad and do something violent, messing up the puzzle even more. Then Tanner would look up from his book and make some smart remark that would have everyone doubling over, crying. It's hard to double up next to a puzzle without messing it up... Anyway, Tanner and I stayed up late one night and finally finished that darn thing. It was hard...in fact, we had all given up multiple times. There was lots of green and leaves and junk...oh well. After they left, we realized Lindsay had forgotten it! (or maybe left it...we'll never know)
Two weeks later, I went to AZ cuz Bret was gettin hitched. I won't talk a ton about it, because, well...I could go on and on and on and on and on, and we don't want that to happen. but getting to AZ...wow that was an adventure.
Before I start, I need to give some background. There was no stress involved in this trip. I didn't stay up late the night before, I didn't wake up early the morning of, I didn't forget anything, my luggage wasn't overweight, I didn't get stopped in security...yep, that's all. (and yes that is crucial to the story--you can't have a plane trip anywhere and not have something go wrong) So I'm sittin on the plane in San Juan, and the captain comes on and says "Ok folks, we'll be leaving in a coupel minutes--the maintenance guys are doin some last minute stuff and we'll be on our way." This was at 9:40-ish. Yep, we definitely left at 11:45. My layover in Dallas was less than two hours, so if you do the math, I missed my flight. But while I was sittin in San Juan, I had called mom (oh so responsible), so she got right on it and when I landed in Dallas, she was able to tell me that there were two flights to AZ that day...one at 7 somethin and one at 9 somethin. Either way I was gonna have to wait until the millenium...whatever. I won't give all the details, but I did end up gettin on the 7 somethin flight. My friend picked me up, and I finally showed up at Charisse's house. The kids were already in bed, and I was kinda upset that they (Charisse and Clate) were more excited to see the Ghiradelli's Triple Chocolate brownies with peanut butter m&m's I had added in than they were to see me, but then I remembered that they had just seen me, so I was old news. It probably didn't help that it was kinda late (not that that stopped them from diggin in to those brownies) Oh well. :)
Anyway, all was well. I had a great time in AZ. The wedding dinner was delicious!! Afterwards, when we were supposed to be cleaning up, Dizz and I had a little dance party. We danced to Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It). We were so proud that we knew all the words (we had definitely printed out the lyrics so we could sing along while we drove around...weirdos, I know). But we thought it appropriate because, we are indeed, single ladies. The only Martineau ones at that...and the only singles present (I considered Bret and Naomi as good as married)...it was great.
The wedding/reception were fantastico! That whole day went by so fast. It started out with Stephy flippin out because she "wasn't a hairdresser" and she was supposed to my hair. It was amazing though...even though I swear at some point she was trying to drill a hole in my head with the bobby pins!! When we got to the temple, we were happy because the sun had just gone behind the clouds and there was a breeze!! Heaven!! The reception lasted I swear like 10 minutes. It was fun though. I had a blast hanging with friends and family and everyone else. Thank you all for being so flippin amazing!!
Well, I'm done. Firstly I have nothing else to say. Secondly, I'm dead tired, and thirdly, well, I want some ice cream (that is a recurring theme in my life). So carry on with your life. As you were.
