so i have decided that everyone in this world needs to have a friend like allan escobar.
why, you might ask?
let me just tell you.
you will never have a dull moment.
ever.
you will always laugh.
always.
i’ve already told the scooter story.
i won’t tell you all our adventures,
but know that we just have a lot of inside jokes.
but i will tell you of our most recent adventure.
so this morning, i texted allan to tell him to have a good day because i didn’t see him on the bus (i may or may not have ditched work)
he texted back and said that he was on his way home and said he was going to stop at this store to see if they had breakfast.
he asked if i wanted anything.
i told him he could just come over and we could make pancakes.
so he came over and we started making them.
he told me he wanted me to make some homemade syrup.
so he flipped the pancakes and i started making it.
at some point, i needed to take the pot off the heat for a bit so it wouldn’t keep boiling while i was getting the other ingredients.
now let me tell you a quick little story about my pot.
the handle is very loose.
like really really loose.
like when i picked it up to start using it, i thought to myself,
”hey i need to tighten this screw before i use it next time.”
so when i took it off the heat, what happened?
think hard.
then look at the picture.
{side note: yes my hair is out of control. the only reason it’s like that is because allan requested it. he sort of loves my hair in its natural state. anyway, that just added to the hilariousness of the event.}
yes i am holding the handle.
the bowl of the pot is sitting on the floor.
yes the pot is swimming in hot maple syrup.
and when i say hot, i mean scalding.
almost burned my foot off.
but don’t worry about it—it’s high school.
any guesses on what allan and i did after?
after we cleared up all the confusion as to what actually happened…
we laughed of course!
i mean obviously.
every time we try to have an adventure,
something goes wrong.
and we end up laughing uncontrollably.
and if we ever think about it, or try to talk about it,
we can’t stop laughing.
we’re great friends.
moral of the story:
find a friend like that.
one that makes life enjoyable.
one that can laugh with you, no matter what.
or one that laughs at you, no matter what.
either way.
other moral of the story:
don’t ditch work.
unless of course you like cleaning up hot maple syrup off your nasty, rabies-filled floor.
third moral of the story:
always put chocolate chips, peanut butter, and syrup on your pancakes.
it makes the world go round.
seriously.

I am thankful that I don't have to find an Allan Escobar in the world. Puerto Rico San Juan West Mission made it possible! haha!
I was smiling the whole time reading your blog the tithing child.. hahaha!! :)
