all growing up, i never had school on my birthday.
it’s so close to new years that it always falls during christmas break.
first year in college, school resumed on the 4th of january.
this happened on a monday, so that made sense.
second year of college, school resumed on the 4th of january.
this happened on a tuesday, which didn’t make sense.
third year of college, school resumed on the 4th of january.
…i need to go talk to cecil.
’twas the night before my birthday, and tayte wanted to go to the mall.
he had some money and wanted to get himself a plaid shirt.
{side note: surprisingly, this country boy did not own a plaid shirt. also--i happen to have a thing for plaid shirts on guys.}
it wasn’t until we walked in the store that he informed me that he was going to buy me a shirt as well, one that i could wear the next day—his birthday present to me.
despite the fact that neither of us like shopping, we were able to find shirts (both plaid, of course).
{side note: you will soon see that they match quite nicely. we did not plan this. it just happened to work out that way.}
the next day marked the beginning of my 21st year.
don’t worry, i didn’t go too crazy.
i didn’t even get “sloshed.” (word choice courtesy of eric and beth)
tayte did take me to dinner.
then we’re on our way back to his apartment and i see hilary run into his apartment.
then i see brenton standing outside the door, and when he saw us, he ran inside and slammed the door.
that’s when i knew.
and sure enough, when i opened the door, i was greeted with loud shouts of surprise.
i must say—this is the first surprise party held for me that i did not help plan or know about.
thanks to everyone that came and that was a part of it!
it was fabulous and a great way to celebrate being one year older :)
