“life’s like a novel with the end ripped out.” –rascal flatts

so a couple months ago, i randomly started thinking about what to do for tayte’s birthday.
i don’t know why i thought of it so early…
probably because i wanted it to be amazing.
{but with me doing the planning, how could it be anything but amazing?}
so i was racking my brain, and i decided that i should take him to a concert.
i’d never been to one, but i figured it would be way fun.
he’s one of those country boys, so one day, i casually asked him what his top three country artists are.
tim mcgraw, rascal flatts, and taylor swift.
here’s the thing.
if i took him to tim mcgraw, it would be us and a bunch of 40-year-olds.
if i took him to taylor swift, it would be us and a bunch of 15-year-old girls. (in hindsight, that would have actually been a lot of fun)
so i decided on rascal flatts.
besides—rascal flatts? love them.
plus my cousin’s husband looks just like gary levox, the lead singer.
no joke.
so i felt like i had some sort of personal connection.
anyway.
so i got online and looked up their schedule to see if they had a concert soonish.
i figured it would be a little while after his birthday and i could give him the tickets for his birthday.
but luck would have it that there was a concert coming up in september, which was only a couple months away.
i thought about it for about 12 seconds, then quickly bought tickets.
it was in an amphitheater, and we were sitting on the lawn, but it was going to be amazing regardless.
so now i had a new dilemma: how to tell him.
i didn’t actually have any tickets, because i used this new flashseats thing where they just scan your credit card and they print them for you there.
and i felt weird just one day saying, “hey tayte, i bought us tickets to rascal flatts…”
so i went to walmart in search of some party invitations.
you know, like for little kids…
i found some toy story ones.
score.
so i attempted to mail it to him, with a stamp and everything.
i guess the mailman figured he’d help me save on postage by
just putting it in tayte’s mailbox since we were in the same apartment complex...?
so that’s what we did yesterday.
he took me to olive garden for dinner, then we spent the next 3 hours attempting to get to the amphitheater.
there was so much traffic, it was ridiculous.
oh and did i mention it was pouring rain in provo, so we were worried the concert would be canceled?
(don’t worry, it wasn’t.)
we did get there, and we listened to the preshows…
ok mainly we just people-watched.
there are some crazy people that go to concerts.
it was the first time both of us had ever been to a concert, so we weren’t expecting the crazies.
but it was somewhat humorous to watch them.
but finally the boys of rascal flatts came out and had an amazing concert.
it was so fun!
yeah i’m officially a fan of this whole going to concerts thing.
especially if i happen to be with this tayte character.
he’s just extremely fun to be around.
he was constantly making me laugh and he made the night phenomenal.
i told him i was so glad he was born so that we could enjoy the rascal flatts concert together.
we then attempted to get home quickish, but at one point, we were following some detour signs, and then one of the signs randomly pointed us down this road.
at least that’s what we thought.
yeah that road was closed.
so getting home was an adventure.
and despite how exhausted we were and how ready we were to not have to sit in the car anymore…
it really was such a fun night.
and it really was so like, unreal :)

{insert cute picture of tayte and i at flatts fest.}
(i’m just not one to take picture after picture. i won’t apologize for that.)

…ok fine.
here’s one.
aren’t we so cute? :)

I am only slightly offended by the "tim mcgraw hanging out with 40 yr olds" comment. Love you sis. Glad you had a good time.
